I’ll never not love this GIF
IT’S FINALLY DONE.
There’s a few glitches that are too late to fix though, but hopefully you guys enjoy it.
I’ll gif out a few scenarios later :)
Actually perfect.
I had no idea how much I needed this in my life until now.
Hahahahaha, so bizarre, but kind of incredible. Well done!
…changed my life. I was born on a small farm in the boonies, very little television, very remote. Everyone around me was a very conservative farmer.
I can’t talk about this much right now, I just found out the news.
One day I got to go to a cousin’s house and watch a rerun of the Batman syndicated show. I’d never seen it. And I saw Yvonne Craig as Batgirl and my little girl mind was blown. It is not exaggeration to say my life was changed forever.
A girl who could kick bad guy butt, who was a librarian, who had RED HAIR, who was smart, and tough, and rode a motorcycle. I can’t even begin to explain what that meant to me. I’ve said it many times, but after seeing Yvonne Craig on television, I stood a little taller in my school, I spoke up a little louder in class, and when bullies picked on other kids, I would take a stand. Because of Batgirl, because of Yvonne Craig.
To this day, a huge chunk of the joy in my life is because I discovered Batgirl, and because Yvonne Craig played her so beautifully.
The writing I do, the travel I take, the readers I meet, it’s all because I one day, a painfully shy redheaded girl with big dreams and no way to express them saw a life-changing portrayal. It may have been camp to some, it wasn’t to me.
I am not being articulate right now, I’m actually having trouble typing. But I just want to say for myself, and all the other kids of all genders who felt the same way…thank you, Yvonne.
You are still the coolest thing to ever wear the cowl.
I wrote this somewhat goofy dialogue a few months back. It was a concept, based on thinking about the lives of peripheral characters in comic books, that I found funny.
Night Terrors
“Okay, Mr. Krunkowski, are you comfortable there?”
“Yeah, thanks, Doc.”
“Good. Now, let us start with what brings you here today. it has been a while since you needed to see me, no?”
“No. Uh, I mean, yeah. It’s been a while.”
“Jah. So, how are you feeling today, overall?”
“I’m OK. Got some bruises, a sore back, that sort of thing. Nuthin’ serious through.”
“Ah yes, I can see the shiner on your left eye, there. Occupational hazards as usual, Mr. Krunkowski?”
“Yeah…”
“Jah. But I wasn’t asking about your physical well-being, was I? How are you feeling?”
“Well, Doc, to tell you the truth, I ain’t good.”
This is a smaller week – less than 10 is a smaller week these days – but if I’m still sick with this summer cold by Wednesday, at least I’ll have comics to soothe me.
So i know that i got the game early, and maybe there is something up with the servers not wanting me to install? I dont know. Either way…
[09:54] robyn: why wouldnt i have to download a game i bought on disc, mirite?
[09:54] Elliotts: lol
[09:54] robyn: put disc in

I’m so torn about this. I reeeeally want to play ME3, like, NOW, but this “must use Origin, can’t buy on Steam” business is so dumb.
“THE ADULT ADHD CIRCADIAN CLOCK MAY BE INCORRECTLY SET BETWEEN 4AM AND NOON” WOULD EXPLAIN A HELL OF A LOT ABOUT MY ENTIRE EXISTENCE
tbh I wish I’d known this earlier on in my life. I’ve always naturally slept from 4am-12pm when my body is allowed to choose its own rhythm.
… This is EXACTLY what I fall into, too.
Does anyone have an actual source?
https://apsard.org/are-you-a-night-owl-about-adhd-and-late-sleep/
ADHD is related to several sleep problems, but the most frequent seems the delayed sleep phase syndrome, a disturbance of the circadian rhythm. Research of children and adults with ADHD (when compared to controls) shows that the majority of these individuals has a late sleep onset that is associated with a late onset of the sleep hormone melatonin (van der Heijden et al, 2005; van Veen et al, 2010). Melatonin is produced by the pineal gland in the brain when it is getting dark in the evening, and we wake up by light in the morning. The onset of the melatonin production helps to fall asleep. For most adults the onset of melatonin is around 9.30 pm; in ADHD children compared to controls this occurs at least 45 minutes later, and in adults with ADHD even 90 minutes (van der Heijden ea, 2005; van Veen ea 2010). After melatonin onset, it normally takes 2 hours to fall asleep, but in adults with ADHD it takes at least 3 hours (Bijlenga et al, 2013). So it does make sense that so many people with ADHD have difficulty falling asleep on time. This late onset of melatonin is driven by genes that regulate the biological clock, and those genes have been linked psychiatric disorders like ADHD and bipolar disorder (Landgraf et al, 2014). What the exact relationship is between this late sleep pattern and ADHD is still unknown.
Oh Hey Look It’s Me.
oh shit
Spanish is a beautiful language. You don’t say “I love you” in Spanish, you say “yo quiero comer culo” which translates to “you are the light of my life” which I think is one of the most beautiful things to say to someone
The Romantic languages are so classy, aren’t they?
Your entire piece is thrown out as condescending, entitled, oblivious, sexist and obnoxious.
And no, you can’t object (well, you can, but you’d be summarily overruled). You made the decision based on your life experience as a geek that you could tell other people who is welcome as a geek and who is not. Based on my life experience as a geek, I have made the decision that I am qualified to tell you to suck eggs. You want to slap down people who you don’t feel qualify for geekdom? Then I get to slap you down for being wrong, on the basis of being higher up in the geek hierarchy. You don’t like it? Then you shouldn’t have played this game to begin with. You played your cards, and I now I’ve played mine. This round goes to me. I have the conch. And now I will speak.
Who gets to be a geek?
Anyone who wants to be, any way they want to be one.
John Scalzi, once again proving why he is awesome.
(His post covers pretty much exactly what I thought about the whole “Booth Babes Need Not Apply” article, with the added bonus of Scalzi’s background giving him very solid footing from which to critique.)
